exams month

Many friends around me talk about the coming exam weeks and every time they talk about the exams with me I will tell them that I’m preparing for my exam month. I have one exam every week since last Monday and the exams won’t stop until the week before Thanksgiving. The worst thing is I need to do the review every weekend! I prefer to have all the exams in the same week so that I could have more free time to do my own things. But now my friends have exams on different days with me. We have few time to spend together even during the week. Another homework bothers me is the project of ENGR 131. It takes lots of time and my team always spends 2 to 3 hours on it. As the professor saying, I hope I can get lots of experience when I finish it.

One of the exciting things this week is the project in English class. We are working on the community project in English class this week. This assignment is attractive. I never thought one day I need to create a video and design a website on English class. This is the first time I tried Movie Maker. It’s much easier than I thought. I saw some of my friends making videos before and those videos were always used on the graduate party. I couldn’t remember how many times I cried because of those videos. When I collected the pictures used for the videos, these pictures remained me of the days the classmates stayed together. Each picture has a story. Most of the photos were taken during the travels and parties. The oldest one was taken almost 8 years ago. Compared with the latest photo, everyone changed a lot. The hairstyles at that time were funny. I can’t stop laughing. Thanks to this assignment, I have a great chance to recollect the memories.

  1. Liang, I feel for you. I don’t have an exam month, but if I did I would completely agree with you and wish they were all in the same week. I know how hard it can be to spend every weekend working on homework and reviewing for exams. Ever since we have started school at Purdue, I have spent the weekend working on the homework for the upcoming week. It is definitely a drag when you can’t interact much with your friends. I also agree with your opinion of ENGR 131. I too hope it will be worth the experience, but right now it just seems like an extreme amount of work for a 2 credit-hour class. I spend more time on that class in a week than I do on my 5 credit hour Calc 2 class. I also don’t like how it is only 2 credit-hours when we are in class for 4. (ENGL 106)

  2. I know how you feel with exams coming one after another. However, I agree that having them all in one week would be better. It is definitely difficult to meet with friends when the work load keeps building and different deadlines occur for your assignments. What’s even worse is when you plan out your work schedule and then a course adds more homework than you thought you were going to have. It comes as a shock and I just don’t like that.
I definitely agree with you though that this project in English on a community that you are familiar with will definitely be something to look forward to. To work on a project that you are familiar with and possibly passionate about is a great way to motivate you to do create something amazing. I know exactly what you mean with the graduation videos making you sad. The same thing happened to me for junior high and high school graduation. However, it’s a great way to reflect on the past. This community project may also hold some of the same forms of joy depending on your community. ENGL 106
